15 days Northern lights trip: D 14

As we have covered the major attractions of Stockholm, we decide to go out late as we are leaving for a midnight flight to Doha – our transit before heading home. And main attraction to visit is the Drottningholm palace which is a unesco world heritage site famous for its gardens.

At 11.30am we went down to the T central station to get transport tickets. The Drottningholm is located in outer zone. So do remember to get the right zone ticket at the convenience stores which are cheaper than when you buy from train stations tickets counter.

Took the train to Brommoplan then take a 177 bus – you will reach Drottningholm in 40mins .

And here we are

Lots of locals picnic there like us, so as long as you clean up after yourselves, have a outdoor lunch by the benches are recommended there!

And the famous Kina Slot (aka Chinese garden)

After a good 2.5 hour visit, we travel back to the main city. This time we stop at Slussen station ie the Södermalm area. Our main place to visit is the Monteliusvagen viewing point opposite the Gamla Stan and the main city area.

Along the walk to Monteliusvagen, the sights are just as nice and transport one to 300 years back.

Finally we decided to walked back from Södermalm to Central station, and it gave us sights that we never expected.

After about 30 minute walk, we reached the hotel. Decided to eat at Fisk restaurant based on the reviews from trip advisor

And it’s good! Definitely recommended. The restaurant is linked to the Radisson Blu viking hotel which we are staying in.
I had the shellfish and salmon chowder and I loved it

And Nok had fried herring with lingonberry

We end the dinner with hazel pannacota.

After freshening up, we set off to the airport via the airport express. Thursday to Sunday travel is cheaper at Sek300 for 2.

After just a 20 mins ride we reached the airport. Imagine our surprised when the airport seem so empty and that’s when we found out that our midnight flight timing were changed to 1040pm! We were not informed via text or email at all!
Thank goodness we arrived earlier and the counter managed to checked me in. I did have to rush through the immigration and checks to get to the gate.
No shops are opened at 930pm in the airport and the airport is very deserted. So if one planned to shop for last minute stuff at night in the airport, please forget it.

Nok’s agent seems to have made a blunder on her tickets and she couldn’t leave with me for Doha together, she is due to leave the next day. So I would be spending my next 24 hour alone :- (

I did have 3 seats on the plane though so kinda of like business class. Watched the Martian and enjoyed it too!
